Ruben “The Hurricane” Carter, lives in Toronto now. I had no idea.. It’s interesting that he was able to immigrate, with his conviction (despite the release, perhaps it was a pardon?)

The funny thing is, his friend, who was never exonerated the same way (but was eventually released on parole) pleaded guilty to another offense yet still managed to become a Virgina State Trooper, apparently.

That’s just fucked up.

Italy

So I’ve been very vaguely planning my next “real” vacation. I need to start putting some money aside, it would seem. As it stands at the moment, I’m planning for Italy, a 13 day trip that will probably cost me — well a lot of money. But it seems to be worth it, really. But it’s not likely to happen until the fall at the earliest, next year at the latest.

It sucks being on training and not really knowing when your next real free time will be.

Hee.

Apple’s latest product

Heh. Well done!

This sucks. I’m going through one of those times where all you want to do is go to sleep for months or years and wake up and have everything be okay.

Ugh.

“La Vita Nuova”

In that book which is
My memory
On the first page
Of the chapter
That is the day when
I first met you
Appear the words . . .
“Here begins a new life”

- Dante, as reimagined by Star Trek, believe it or not.

Someday I want to say this to someone and mean it.

(The real translation is thus: “In that part of the book of my memory before which is little that can be read, there is a rubric, saying, ‘Incipit Vita Nova’.”)

hmmm

Neil Gaiman|||Terry Pratchett quotes:

“God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of the players, (ie everybody), to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won’t tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.”
