Moving Day

Monday, April 19th, 2004

Ok so. We’ve moved offices. No one has killed anyone yet, and I am all unpacked and very satisfied with my setup for the next 9 months. That’s when we move (again) and, well, who knows how I’ll feel in January 2005.

Not much else is going on, really. I’ve recently finished a book, which I have reviewed in the Media section, and have moved on to Fire and Ice: The United States, Canada and the Myth of Converging Values. I?m really enjoying it. Although I think some of it is just aimed at patting ourselves on the back for being so damned post-modern and forward thinking, a lot of what?s been happening in reality (Decriminalization of marijuana, gay marriage, “legal” file sharing) backs up what Adams is saying.

In other news, I got my income tax refund, and though about getting myself a Palm Pilot. But then I realized that I really just wanted a new Techno Toy and that I was about to pay too much money for something that ultimately would be a fancy organizer. So I think I?m going to spend some money on a 256 MMC for my MP3 player. Or maybe I?ll be radical and not but any techno gadgets with it [HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!].

Rounding up the end is the fact that soon the girlfriend will be home for the summer. In fact, she’s at our apartment right now. But since she’s still got one exam I don?t consider her to be ?home? yet. But come Thursday, she’ll be done! For good! Now we just have to hope that she can find a decent job here (oh god.)

{An aside: my “l” key is being a fucked up so I keep getting these spelling mistakes because the “l” is being left (eft) out of words. ARGH}

Another Year Done

First let me just say a great big F**k you to comment spammers. I hate you. You make me think that people read me and love me from a distance, but it always turns out to be ads for enlarging genitalia I don’t have, or job interview questions or other sundried crap. There’s a semi-fix available in MT 2.66, but I can’t be bothered, especially since it’s likely that 3.0 will be out soon. With better spammer protectiion, and hopefully better style sheets.

So two weeks have passed since my entry aptly titled Writer’s Block. In the last two weeks I have finished up the most boring French Class every (complete with condescending teacher. I got an A- though, so I should likely quit whining). Thank god that’s over. I’ll likely go back in September, but I’m hoping the new Official Languages Policies will allow me to take language training during work hours. No more of this bussing my ass halfway accross town.

Let’s see. My birthday is tomorrow. I am officially in my late twenties. 26. I am 2 years past the official definition of “youth”. 30 is that much closer, yet a mortgage, alas, is not. I threw myself my annual birthday party last weekend, which, although small, was tons of fun. People actually played trivial pursuit with me!

As aresult of this inevitable aging process, I have once again joined a gym. There’s a fairly cheap facility at the local community centre (which incedentally offers some rather cool rec courses – I want to take their one night Wines of the World Wine Appreciation class) and went through my orientation and first workout last night. The guy who did my orientation kind of set up a program for me, which includes jogging on the treadmill. A first for me. He also has me using the flatbench, where I quickly discovered that I can barely even life the empty weight bar. So very, very sad.
